One of these Things

One of these things is not like the other!!

Remember that song from Sesame Street?  Well, take a good close look at these blocks and you'll see that while they look similar, they are definitely not like each other..at least not in the way it counts!  See the little short piece on the side of the square..now look at the long piece. The one with the red centre is right, the grey centre wrong. Guess how many I made before noticing the difference (ahem, error).  Yep, ALL 36 blocks! lol!  I made one right then somehow got all turned around. All afternoon and into the evening, cutting, sewing, pressing, BAM!  Knocked the snot right outta me and I could have sat on the floor and cried in frustration!  I looked at them little suckers and said "No Way!  I am not ripping out 36 blocks!" The time NOT to screw up and get it wrong is when you are on a deadline for a class project.  I was so disgusted I just tossed them onto the cutting table and walked away.  Went back the next day and discovered that the piecing, though incorrect, wasn't going to make a difference visually in the quilt so I finished the rest of the piecing and here's the centre of my Schnibble's McGuffey!  I used Martinque and it's just so sweet.

Hope to get the borders on today :)

I know I've been absent alot lately.  We've been having some health issues with Mr. RQ the past few weeks and so my mind has been on that.  I debated about whether to blog about it or not, not sure if my followers want to read something outside of my quilting life.  Happy stitching to all!

THat is a very sweet quilt.
It is hard sometimes to decide just how much about other things than quilting one should blog about! Take care of yourself and Mr. R.Q. -- health comes first!

I love your quilt...and I can't see the errors. Oh, I can just imagine though, how upset you were. I've almost thrown things away in frustration before realizing that the error wouldn't make one bit of difference in overall pattern when put together.

I do hope all is going to be okay with Mr. RQ. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs...

Your quilt looks wonderful and no one would have noticed the "error" if you hadn't pointed it out. But then we are always our own worst critics. Sorry to hear the Mr. RQ is having health issues. Prayers and good wishes for you both.

Your quilt is stunning!! When 36 are wrong and 1 is right...I would switch it around and 'correct' the one right one!! Love it!

Rule of Thumb: when you have blocks pieced two different ways, as you did, count how many you have of each, and then declare the biggest pile to be the "right" method! And you did it! Those blocks are lovely.

I am so glad you didn't change them. They are straight and they look great. I really like the fabric too. Hope all works out with Mr. RQ. Thinking of you. P.S. My "red and pink" quilt is back from Tina's and should be bound by the end of the weekend.

Have to love Schnibbles, they are such great patterns to work with. You just made a design change!
You know all your blogging friends just want you to do what ever makes you feel best. If you want to blog and it helps you, then O.K., if you don't want to, that is O.K. also. I think I just gave you the mother lecture. Hugs

Don't even notice the errors and in time you won't either! Your mind wandered...with very good reason. Hugs!

Hi Shelley, I read about your blog while I was visiting Quilt Hollow. I love the fabrics you have used in this quilt. :)
Sorry to hear your DH is having health issues, we had a year like that last year, very scary at the time but all's well now, so I am sending special wishes your way for your DH's return to good health. Hugs from Sandy in Australia. :)

Mary mentioned that times are tough for you and your's, so thought I would stop by to tell you that I am thinking of you today. I've been through difficult times with my DH and his health issues...hard times.

I'm visiting from Mary's blog too and wishing your DH well.

Your quilt looks great to me. I'll bet few would have even known something was amiss if you hadn't said so. I think we've all had those days.

I've just heard from Mary that you are having a tough time and wanted to say I hope things improve soon. I too have had a horrible year with my DH's health, but all is OK now. I say that if you feel that blogging about it will help you, then go ahead and do so.
