A Goat Story

Once upon a time, not in a land far away...actually my back yard, there lived a fine looking goat named Fred.  Fred was a hard working goat, chomping on grass and keeping the lawn trimmed and looking fine for his masters. Day after day, Fred ate grass, doing his job without complaint.  Fred actually loved his job working outside in the warm sunshine all day.  He especially liked rainy days when the grass was sweet, new and wet.  His favorite wildflower to eat was clover and because it smelled so sweet, he always left a patch of clover to snuggle into at night.

One day, Fred noticed that the grass was not growing quite so high and it was beginning to taste like dry straw, not the sweet green stuff he was used to.  "Oh no!", thought Fred.  "My masters are going to be so upset with me!  I've done something to ruin their grass!"

What Fred didn't know, because afterall, Fred's a goat and not that smart, was that the Land of Endless Beauty was experiencing a dry spell.  Even though some rain had fallen, it was not enough to keep the grasses and flowers growing tall, rich and green. The land was turning brown.

Poor Fred the goat didn't know what was going to happen to him.  Would his masters make him start eating clothes from the clothesline or force him to chew down on some bitter tree branches?

Fortunately for Fred, he had kind and loving masters, who wouldn't dream of making Fred suffer such indignities! But something had to be done!  Fred's masters decided to send Fred on vacation, perhaps a working vacation since Fred loved to keep busy. Fred was worried when he heard this news.  "Send him away!?", he thought.  "But I'm scared....I've never lived anywhere but here in the Land of Endless Beauty!"

Fred's masters told him not to worry his little goat head at all because where they were sending him was a land just as beautiful as the Land of Endless Beauty.  In fact, there was even a kind and loving Queen Mary in this new land where he would be spending his working vacation.

"Will there be sweet flowers and sunshine in this new land?", Fred asked.  "Oh, yes," replied his masters.  "Sweet flowers like you've never tried before!"

"Can I come back when the dry spell is over?" asked Fred.  "You can return anytime you wish," replied his thoughtful masters.

So, Fred took one good long look around at the Land of Endless Beauty.  He was going to miss this place but understood that his masters were only doing the best and most kindest thing for him by sending him away.

A few days later, Fred was high up in the air in a terrifyingly noisy creature, looking down at many different Lands of Endless Beauty beneath him, heading off to where no goat had gone before.

Boycotting Aging and New quilts

I've decided!  I'm starting a boycott on aging! So get out your markers and posters girls, cause we're going to scream and holler and march and just simply refuse to get older!  I hereby declare that I'm remaining 48 forever!! Which is really 38 because everyone knows that 50 is the new 40 lol! So start hanging your banners, wearing your t-shirt and spreading the word---we're not going to age but be FOREVER YOUNG :)!

I have some lovely quilts to show you that I quilted last week.

I used Wildflower panto on the green and black quilt above.
This quilt above is from the book French Braid Quilts.  It is gorgeous!
This one in purple and greens is a version of a star quilt.
And this one, well, this one was hard to give back lol!  I love the fabrics and guess what! The pattern is free on-line! You can get it right here.
This one just has more blocks and some borders added.  I like it better with the added borders :)

Don't forget to enter my giveaway on my last post!  Right now your odds are pretty darn good lol!

Time for a Giveaway!

Well, blogging wise, it's been a good week for me :) I've managed to post a couple times and did read a few blogs too.  When I think back, I got a lot accomplished with quilting, altering two dresses for my niece, hosting girls night, getting photos downloaded and processed, finished blocks for my new quilt and had a birthday!  Whew!  This is my beautiful niece all dressed up for her Junior Prom last night!

After a week like that, I think it's time for a giveaway!!
First,  there's this Amish flimsy, wallhanging size....a new project but one that I quickly lost interest in and I'm not going to let it languish around waiting for "someday".  It might as well be loved and finished by someone else lol!
Second, I have this brand new book.
Here's one of the quilts from the inside.
So, to ENTER THE GIVEAWAY:

1. Leave me a comment telling me what you have on your agenda for the month of June.  Any comment not telling me this will not work :(
2.  The giveaway is open until June 30, 2012.
3. One person will win the flimsy, one person will win the book:)
4. OPEN TO U.S. AND CANADA ONLY, sorry as shipping international is too high.

Finally, oh Michelle will be so proud of me lol!! I finished last month's block before the new one came out!

It was my birthday on the weekend. Yeah, do you hear the lack of excitement?? I'm getting older, it sucks, and approaching that age when they say everything from there is downhillThe question is..."Do you buy into that theory?"

Yes, my body aches more on rainy days, I can't stay up past midnight anymore and still jump out of bed on 5 hours sleep, but is everything really going to go downhill???   Just when I finally have reached a time in my life where I can pretty much do what I want, when I want, and how I want, am I suddenly going to lose all that just by getting older?  What do you all think?

I love my Mother's embroidery work! She recently did me a pair of pillowcases to match the quilt over my bed...aren't they gorgeous!
I, also, made a pair of pillowcases for a friend's birthday.  They are so easy to make and I just use directions from Allpeoplequilt.com.
Blogger is not playing nice today with loading photos!! I have more but I have to go play with Grace :)

Did you think I left forever???

Did you all think I'd dropped off the ends of the earth to never be heard from again!  What can I say...sometimes life gets really hectic and crazy lol!

First on the agenda, David's test results: biopsy came back "no malignant cells at this time"!!! so for now, he is completely cancer free!  He celebrated with a huge 50th birthday party with tons of food and fellowship, a big bonfire and at the end of the bonfire, he burned his radiation mask from last year.  It was a great celebration of love, friends, family and gratitude that we have such a wonderful, caring, healing God!

Yep, all 50 candles lol!  He's trying not to burn his mustache off haha!
David blowing out a marshmallow and that's Matthew sitting with his marshmallow stick standing straight up, probably contemplating if having the whole stick on fire would qualify as a Jedi light sabre.

Next, I've started a new quilt lol!! Check it out....aren't these just the most fun fabrics and colors! So not my usual style but I love them.  They are from The Quilted Fish thru Riley Blake.  I have all my blocks done and just have to start the sashings and cornerstones!
 Loving those polka dots!!

I am so digging those red and blue polka dot squares!

Well, I can't promise I'll be here tomorrow but I am genuinely going to try to blog more often.

This one's for you Bob!
