Fall is in the Air

Oh, it's definitely feeling fallish out there today!  It's too cool for wide open windows and shorts..I had to dig deep and find those pants and a shirt with sleeves! While fall is my favorite season in the year, there is always something sad about having to put away the shorts and tank tops of summer.  I think it's about losing the freedom that a body gets with the wearing of less clothes! I can really relate to why toddlers love running around with just their underwear on.....yeah, that wouldn't be a pretty picture at my age though! LOL!

The cooler temperatures, changing leaves, shorter daylight hours....all these signal time to change....change the sheets to warmer ones, light quilts to heavier ones, fall wallhangings go up, decorations change, gardens are harvested, quilting seems more inviting and everyone seems to be a little more energized after the draining heat of the previous months.  I swear my brain thinks more clearly when it's cooler!  or maybe, it's that I finally have the energy TO think! LOL

The blogs are flooded right now with lots of contests and giveaways....very exciting stuff! I have been trying my darnedest to win a GO! system!LOL!  It's so fun visiting so many blogs and everyone who has a GO is having a blast with them pretty little dies and patterns.  It's so fun to see what everyone is making with them!:)

Speaking of contests, I did win some sweet fabric from Riel's cute little blog.  Riel is a new quilter and what she makes just blows me away! You must go check her out!  I am hoping to meet her in person at the KVQG show this fall.  She just started quilting and already she's putting a quilt in a show!  How's that for inspiration for those of us who have quilted for years and never entered anything yet!!!

Remember my sneak peek the other day?  Well, it's all done, quilted and bound.  Meet Apple Annie!
Apple Annie is a pattern from Applepatch Designs.  She is just sweet and was so fun to make.  See, I told you the cooler weather was making me think fall!  Fall = APPLES and I am big on apples for country decorating!

Yesterday, I was reading another blog and learned something new.....something that I should have been doing concerning blogging but didn't know about.  Apparently, it's considered good blog etiquette to respond to those who leave a comment!!! I am so sorry if you left a comment on my blog and I didn't reply!  I wish someone had told me before this but now that I know, I will definitely try to do this.  It just never occurred to me that you would want to hear back from me....uuhh, duh moment here! LOL!  You know what they say..."when you know different, you do different".

One last note....if you read me, you know how I love little quilts!! Well, there is a great show of mini quilts going on over at the Quilting Gallery that you must go see.  You can vote for your favorite while there.  No, I am not entered because I didn't know about it:(  Thanks to Mary over at Quilt Hollow for putting us onto this treat for today!

Fall is in the air, it's cool and fresh and invigorating!! Now get out there and quilt something!!!!  Happy Stitching!

Oh goodness, Apple Annie is darling. You did a wonderful job on her. Fall is in the air here too. I even turned the a/c off this week. That should help on the electric bill. Have a good day. Winona

I think today will have a "fall is in the air" theme. Skiff of ice on the puddles here this morning. My garden seems to have survived the frost so it must have been light. Lots of colour in the leaves already.

Shelley, you are way too kind! Thanks so much for the super shout out! It would be awesome if we crossed paths at the KV show!! I think I am just driven by naive optimism as far as the show goes. I really can't believe I never figured out that there was a quilter lurking inside me earlier in my life, so now I am going full speed ahead making up for lost time! LOL!

Hey girl! I have been away from computer all day. I'm bummed I didn't see this post sooner because every single Friday at Facebook they giveaway a GO! for all correct answers to their random question. I don't have a full on FB account. Just my name and email...nothing else. I'm not a FB fanatic but it does help for a win....so be sure to put on your calendar next Friday!! I'm telling you...can't win the lottery unless you buy the ticket!

Apple Annie is wonderful! I love her, Shelley. And you're absolutely right in what you say that apples = fall. I can taste them now!

I don't expect to get a reply back when I leave a comment, unless I ask a question, although sometimes I feel a friendship more when there is back and forth communication. I don't think you should feel obligated to respond, but do if you feel like it.

Apple Annie is adorable!! We're going to have a week of more summer heat and humidity, so I'm going to continue ignoring the fact fall is coming. :-)

Shelley, I love how the borders turned out on your Annie. She's darling! Hey, I didn't know about the comment thing either. Glad you posted about it!
Blessings!

Apple Annie is perfect for fall. Just adorable. I'm not looking forward to putting the long pants and sweatshirts back on. I'm a summer sorta gal.
