Vintage Easy

I've been lucky enough to come into possession of some vintage family pieces that I'm sure were kept by long gone family members for sentimental reasons.  I just love vintage pieces and love to find ways to display or re-purpose them for my home decor.

This first one is an old Christmas tag with the sweetest birds and the ribbon was attached to it too.  Why don't they make sweet Christmas tags like this anymore!  Also, with it is only what can be perhaps an old button or hat/shoe embellishment....it's very heavy and feels like it's made of stone/metal.  The minute I laid eyes on these two items I knew exactly how I was going to "marry" them.
The ribbon was a wrinkled mess so I carefully pressed it flat, then threaded the ribbon thru the holes in the button.  Tied a bow and now I have a lovely vintage family ornament for next years Christmas tree!
Next item is my MIL's childhood fork.  It's one of the few items we have that belonged to her.  It's silver and I have polished it a couple times but all the tarnish never completely comes off.  I rather like the tarnished look of it but I'm stuck on what I can do with it.  I would like it to be something I can put out.  She was, also, into quilting and maybe it could somehow be re-purposed for a quilting something?? Any ideas anyone?

Wellness

I've been sick...yep, that nasty old cold/flu bug finally laid me low for the past week.  I'm not very patient when I get sick.  I lay there thinking of all the things I could be/should be doing, wishing and hoping that any minute the magic wellness genie is going to swoop in and wave his "get well instantly" wand so I can fly back into the business of my life. To be honest, I get down right mad that I have to take time to be sick!!

Why do we feel like we can't take time to take care of ourselves, to just relax into the therapy of rest and relaxation so that our bodies can heal themselves.  I had high hopes for all I was going to get accomplished this week! My total accomplishments are compiled of reading two short stories, taking a shower, emptying two Kleenex boxes, picking up one quilt magazine only to put it back down, and generally making a wreck of the bed sheets with all my tossing and turning! And FINALLY!!!!!! IT'S OVER LOL!  okay, whining over :)

I have another "little peep" of my "Henri's Friends" quilt.  I am down to deciding how to quilt the last two borders, doing the binding and then it will not longer be a WIP/UFO :)

Introducing Missie Peeps...
isn't she sweet!

And, speaking of peeps, Misha never left my side the whole time I was sick....he's such a nursemaid lol!  All snuggled under the blankets with me....
Just look at this lovely quilt I had the pleasure of quilting for a customer recently!  I think it was from an older Australian quilt magazine.  I just love the colors she choose and she did a great job piecing it!
I've heard from Kaaren, who we were all doing the Sunshine Squishies for, and she's doing well. She's such a trooper!! She only has two more weeks left of treatments after this week so keep those prayers coming:)

W.I.P. Wednesday

Oh, I'm really excited about what I've been working on in the evening this week!  It's a ...wait for it....UFO! Gasp! Yep, I dug one out and started on finishing it.  It's a top I designed about 3-4 years ago and it's only been pin basted for about well, a year now.  Hand quilting the previous little quilt got me in the mood to do some more hand quilting and that was always the plan for this quilt anyways.  Want to see it!! Okay, here's a peek..
This is henri.  Henri's a farmer, doesn't say much, hard worker though...:)
There's a whole story behind henri and this quilt but I won't share that until I have the whole quilt completed lol!  One thing I will say....henri is the only guy on the quilt :)

I titled this post WIP (work in progress) but then called it a UFO.  What do you think....at what point does a WIP become a UFO?  How long does a project sit waiting until it officially moves from one category to the other?  Or should we just call them "wip'ed ufo's" lol!

I have to say a very huge heartfelt "WOW AND THANK YOU!!!!!"  to everyone who has shown so much love and kindness in offering to participate in Sunshine Squishies.  The stories and reasons why you want to do this with me have touched my heart and reminded me that all of us need each other more than we know.  This has been a truly tearful experience for me to see the power of friendship and love at work.  Romans 13:9...b. "you shall love your neighbour as thyself".
